Chuchotage or whispered interpreting is a method that doesn’t require any equipment: the interpreter simultaneously translates the words of a speaker for one or two people, by whispering directly into their ears. This enables speech to be immediately understood without interrupting the #ow of the meeting or event. Where there are several people listening to the translation or where backgroundnoise makes it difficult to listen comfortably, or if the people are moving around (visits), it is then recommended to use lightweight, portable equipment (microphone and headsets).
