Human translation: DISCOVER THE STEPS WE FOLLOW TO GUARANTEE YOU RECEIVE THE HIGHEST QUALITY

TEXT ANALYSIS

| 01

We analyse your text to understand its purpose and identify the

challenges it will present during the translation process.

Depending on what you aim to achieve with your documents, as well as where and how they’ll be used, together we’ll choose the most appropriate service.

Research

| 02

This is an essential stage of translating any document. Why? Because translators need to read other texts in addition to the one they are asked to translate, and they do so in both the source and target languages.

This allows them to develop a deeper understanding of the subject and to select the terms commonly used in the target language.

That’s why we choose to work with translators who specialise in a specific field, so we can provide you with a translation that is flawlessly written and delivered as quickly as possible.

TRANSLATION

| 03

Translation is the activity of transferring a text's meaning from one language to another, taking into account the context and cultural norms of both languages.

Professional translators specialise in a limited number of fields, and only accept translation assignments if they’re sure they have sufficient knowledge of the context to complete the project to a high standard.

In addition, the translators in our team work exclusively into their mother tongue. This means we can guarantee they will convey the message in your text as faithfully as possible, and that it will meet the expectations of your target audience.

REVISION

| 04

This is the final step in the process, and involves checking – and correcting, if necessary – the translated text before sending you the final version.

For documents that are particularly expressive and/or persuasive (advertising copy, speeches, etc.), we advise adding a second

stage of proofreading whereby an editor will proofread the text to make sure it uses the correct tone and will have the intended impact. This is particularly relevant for creative translation, also known as transcreation.

Neural machine translation post-editing

It is possible to pre-translate texts instantl using machine translation. In the case of what we call ‘neural’ machin translation, a computer program uses algorithms and a database of translations to calculate the probability that a given word is translated in a certain way. The program is not able to understand the text or its context, but can occasionally generate impressive results, depending on the data it is able to exploit.

That’s why we offer a post-editing service, which involves pre-translating a text using neural machine translation, then correcting

and adapting it for the target audience. A machine translation program can’t actually analyse the meaning of the source text in the same way that a human brain can, nor can it adapt the translation to the

context or target culture. This method can save a significant amount of time on some projects, but that isn’t the case for all texts.

Post-editing is a complex method and subject to the

same quality standards as human translation. That's why we only offer this service if the project lends itself to this approach, and if we can guarantee that the quality of the results will be satisfactory.
